Confused about what meditation is, what kind you need, how it works? Have you wondered if guided meditation is safe? I can answer those questions for you…
Meditation is an ancient practice that most often includes focusing and calming the mind, relaxing the body, and may or may not involve visualization or the use of sound as a focusing device. It may take the form of a visual journey, a focused clearing and letting go of any stimuli that takes you into a more agitated, active, or stressed state, or be in the form of prayer. Meditation is used across many cultures, spiritual and religious traditions, and forms, ranging from point of focus exercises during yoga to extended and immersed times of prayer and communion.
There are many meditation benefits for the brain…and body
Meditation in and of itself is timeless, universal, non-denominational, and extremely beneficial to improved health, a calmed mind, clearer thinking, lower stress levels (including the levels of cortisol and other potentially harmful endocrine response, bodily produced chemicals), and improved performance. The benefits of meditation for students include less test anxiety, better social skills, lowered aggression, and improved concentration. Benefits of concentration meditation in particular have been proven by use in classroom settings, and many schools now incorporate the practice as part of their routine to help students deal with stress, during time-outs, and to help improve study and test scores. Due to the nature of the exercise of meditation, guided meditation mindfulness can help lower blood pressure, encourage relaxation, improve thought awareness, stress management, make one aware of responses, and has even been found to help control some processing challenges in students.
Athletes in particular know the importance of meditation as the benefits of imagery in sports training and competition preparation has been utilized for many years by both pro and amateur athletes. Centering, controlling breath and visualizing the process, movements, and responses necessary in athletic events help prepare the contender mentally and physically, as well as help set goals for positive completion. Using meditation to focus and guide actions with a solid plan, coupled with confidence gained through the imagery, helps make for a winning combination.
Experiencing guided meditation helps in many ways…
I am an experienced guided meditation and imagery leader and teacher. My group meditations are popular and my classes well attended because I focus on the needs and comfort level of each student to help them reach their own goals. Meditation classes Las Vegas often has listed lean to specific styles or types of meditation, such as transcendental meditation, particular Buddhist forms, or other eastern focuses, all which while good, require considerable practice to master. My style is guided mediation Las Vegas and Henderson residents can learn and utilize immediately, without special equipment or lengthy, detailed processes. I facilitate both spoken and guided silent meditation as the situation deems, creating a safe path and story for the student to follow, pick up, and explore at leisure.
During my guided meditation classes, I also explain how to do your own guided meditations, where there are resources to get help from a guided lesson online, and the benefits of mediation. Meditation helps clear the mind, calm the body, and reset the soul. Most students readily see improvement and benefits of meditation 20 minutes a day soon after beginning practice. Many students come initially to my classes thinking it is nearly impossible to quiet the chatter in their mind, but soon find a delicious sensation of calm, serene relaxation taking over, enabling them to achieve their own quiet space on their own after only a few times of practice. You can even do office meditation on a break to refresh your day, making great use of the time.
The spiritual benefits of meditation are tremendous…
There are many benefits both physical and spiritual to the practice of meditation. The history of guided imagery is plentiful, and one only need turn to any sacred writings of any form to see prayers, blessings, songs, poems, proverbs, and other images that create a picture in the mind while changing the energy or engagement and focus of the individual. Historically guided imagery has been used to paint stories in the air, describe legends and ballads of historical significance, and to explain esoteric and ethereal concepts in a more concrete fashion.
The reason why guided imagery works is it allows the listener to focus on something they can relate to and engage with, making it easier to process without assessing, evaluating, judging, or even mentally wrestling with the thought, idea, or mind picture. These “guided meditation power thoughts” allow the emotions and psyche to let go of control and regroup, and allows the body to reallocate energy in a more useful manner. Many sessions of guided meditation encourage improved listening skills as well, a powerful tool to gain insight in spiritual matters.
… and so are the many physical benefits of meditation…
As a long time, respected medical professional, medical intuitive, and Usui Holy Fire Reiki Master and healer, I can attest to the physical benefits of meditation first hand. I have watched many students arrive at sessions or class with stress on their faces, tensed muscles, and elevated heart rates. When they leave they are relaxed, calm, smiling, and might even yawn once or twice. Many health benefits of meditation are showing up daily in the news and what the newest research shows is very encouraging. There truly are no disadvantages of guided meditation due to the controlled environment, monitoring by a professional, and training the students receive. They are safe during the practice, and the health benefits being documented range from lowered blood pressure, lower body produced chemicals that may harm the physical being, and more supple spinal column, connective tissue, and other parts the body moving more readily and without as much discomfort that normally hold tension in or are reduced in mobility due to tension.
